Due to needing a healthy supply of grazing algae these are classed as a moderate level of care

Rivers and streams within Borneo

What is the ideal number to keep together?
Can be kept in groups although males may be a little territorial especially over good feeding grounds.

What water conditions do they require?
Highly aerated water, with a pH of 6.5-7.5 and temperatures ranging from 20 - 26 degrees.

What should you feed them?
Algae, Algae Pellets, Sinking Pellets, Blood Worms. A healthy source of algae on rocks, wood and decorations will greatly benefit the success of this species.

How compatible are they with other fish?
Very peaceful and compatible, do not keep with large specimens.

Can they be bred in captivity?
Only 1 reported case on the private aquaria.
