Buying guide

Choosing the right dose comes down to your pond's volume and how established your filter already is — a brand new biological filter or one that's been cleaned out after winter will benefit most from a full starter dose, while a healthy, mature system may only need a top-up after a water change or a course of medication that can harm good bacteria. It's worth checking your filter's media capacity against your pond size before dosing, as under-treating a large pond is a common reason results seem slow. If you're not sure how big a filter your pond actually needs in the first place, our Pond Filter Size Recommender is a quick way to work that out, so your bacteria treatment has the right system to work with from day one.
