Males are more brightly coloured and have pointed dorsal and anal fins. Parents will clean a rock and lay between 100 to 500 eggs. When the eggs hatch the fry are moved to a depression prepared in the gravel. The parents will both defend the fry. Feed the fry on newly hatched brine shrimp.
