When to replace the lamp

A UV bulb stops working long before it stops glowing. The visible light remains while the invisible UV-C output fades, so a lamp that still lights up can be doing nothing for your water.

• Sterilisation: replace every 6 months (approximately 4,000 hours)
• Pond or aquarium clarification: replace every 12 months (approximately 8,000 hours)

Clean or replace the quartz sleeve at every lamp change - limescale and biofilm on the sleeve block UV-C just as effectively as a dead bulb does. Full step by step in our UV Steriliser Maintenance Guide.

Fitting. Isolate the power supply before opening the unit. Lightly lubricate the O-rings with a silicone-based lubricant on reassembly to keep the seal watertight.
