Why do I need extra overlap, not just the exact pond dimensions?
The liner has to go up and over the pond's sides (accounted for by the 2 × depth) and then extend far enough beyond the edge to be securely anchored under paving, turf, or an edging trim — typically 30-50cm, more for larger or informal ponds where the edge is less precisely defined.
Should I round up to the nearest standard liner size?
Yes — liners are sold in fixed roll widths and standard cut sizes, so always round up from the calculated figure rather than down. A liner that's slightly larger than needed can be trimmed; one that's too small cannot be extended.
