    Aquarium Wavemakers & Powerheads

Wavemakers keep the water in your aquarium moving, which removes dead spots where waste settles and carries it to your filter. That matters most in reef tanks, where corals rely on steady, varied flow, but good circulation benefits freshwater tanks too. We offer three ranges:

Wavemakers with Adjustable Powerhead (3,000–12,000 L/H)

Our newest range, suitable for freshwater or marine tanks. Each has an adjustable flow regulator and a fully directional output, so you can set both the strength and the direction of the current. Available as single-head models (3,000, 4,000 and 8,000 L/H) and twin-head models (6,000 and 12,000 L/H).

    WM Wavemakers (2,000–12,000 L/H)

Compact wavemakers with 360-degree rotation to aim the current where it's needed, supplied with a clip-action suction cup for easy fitting. The WM-6000 and WM-12000 have a dual powerhead for increased flow.

    Reef Surge Wavemakers (4,000 and 8,000 L/H)

For reef aquariums: supplied with a controller offering 8 speed modes, a range of wave patterns, a feed mode that pauses the pump for 10 minutes, and a day/night sensor. Two Reef Surge units can sync wirelessly. A magnet clamp with a rubber cushion reduces vibration for near-silent running.

    Buying guide

When choosing a powerhead, match its flow rate (litres per hour) to your tank size and stocking level - reef tanks with corals generally benefit from stronger, more turbulent flow than a community freshwater set-up, where a gentler current is often better for fish and plants. It's also worth considering placement: positioning a powerhead diagonally across the tank, rather than pointing straight at a wall, helps create a more natural, randomised current and avoids dead spots where debris can settle. Many keepers run two smaller powerheads on opposite sides rather than one large unit, giving a more even circulation pattern throughout the aquarium. Running costs are low, so it's a small ongoing expense for noticeably healthier, cleaner water.
