Rare Video Footage of the Black Sea Devil

One of the world’s rarest seen fish was caught on camera recently. The anglerfish, Melanocetus, is only 9 cm in length and lives in the deep sea. Also known as the Black Sea Devil, it lures its prey in with its luminous fishing rod and then eats them up. The fish in the video was filmed by California-based Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. 

National Geographic Puffer Fish Finds New Home at Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium

Billy the puffer fish became famous after being featured in National Geographic magazine, and now has a new home in Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium. He fires jets of water at aquarium staff to let them know he is hungry. The staff then have to spoon feed him his meals. This behaviour is what has made him a celebrity, as while puffer fish are known for their friendly behaviour, Billy is particularly keen. 

Conservation Projects Bringing Back Salmon to UK Rivers 

The number of salmon jumping up our UK rivers is increasing. After several things, such as pollution, problems with the rivers and river blockages, salmon numbers have dwindled. But as conservation projects clean up our rivers, the stocks are returning, and with more positive human intervention, we may have our Salmon Rivers back once more.
