How easy are they to care for?
We would class these as a medium level of care. They are very sensitive to biologically immature aquaria and should only be introduced to established systems.

How large can they grow?
They can attain a size of 8cm

Where in the world are they from?
Found throughout the slow moving rivers and oxbow lakes in Ecuador, Peru and Brazil.

What is the ideal number to keep together?
Can be kept in groups, and although some squabbling may occur when fully mature damage is rare.

What water conditions do they require?
Ideally slightly acidic water conditions are provided between 5.0pH - 7.5pH. Temperatures should range between 24-26°C.

What should you feed them?
Will happily accept most foods offered, introduction of frozen foods such as artemia and daphnia to encourage natural feeding patterns will benefit this species.

How compatible are they with other fish?
Ideal tank mates are peaceful and slow moving. Catering for species such as Tetra, Rasbora and small Cichlids such as Rams.
