How easy are they to care for?
The Spotted Fire Ring Danio is a great choice for beginning aquarists and makes a great addition to a community aquarium. These fish will eat just about anything that is offered and love planted aquariums. They also tolerate water condition changes and cooler water temperatures without too many issues. Please note the aquarium should have a well-fitted cover; this species is inclined to jump.

Up to 4cm

Where in the world are they from?
They are found in northern Myanmar (formerly Burma) around Pegu, Moulmein.

What is the ideal number to keep together?
This is schooling fish should be kept in a small group of at least 5 individuals, though 10 or more makes them happier and creates a lively display.

What water conditions do they require?
Will accept temperatures from 24 to 28°C and a pH range between 6.0-7.0.

What should you feed them?
Since they are omnivorous, these fish will accept almost any food including flakes, small pellets and frozen foods. They’re particularly fond of small live foods, which should be provided as a supplemental food when possible. 

How compatible are they with other fish?
Since Spotted Fire Ring Danios are a peaceful fish they get along with most other species, however, they are rather timid. They will do well when kept with other small species such Tetras and Rasboras as well as Cory catfish.

Can they be bred in captivity?
Spotted Fire Ring Danios are very easy to breed, and they may even do so on their own. If you wish to retain the young you’ll need to keep them in a separate tank as adult Danios are voracious egg and fry eaters.
