Approximate purchase size:
5-6cm

How easy are they to care for?
Although large, it is relatively easy to care for Cichlid. High filtration requirements are needed due to the size and mess that such fish can create. A sandy substrate is best and the water should be well oxygenated. Plants should not be used as they will be eaten.

How large can they grow?
13cm

Where in the world are they from?
Originally found in Lake Malawi.

What is the ideal number to keep together?
Ideally should not be kept with other Cichlids.

What water conditions do they require?
Will accept temperatures from 23 - 26°C and a pH range between 7.6 - 8.6.

What should you feed them?
The Red Top Ice Blue Zebra Cichlid is an omnivore so they'll enjoy vegetable matter in the form of flakes, pellets, tablets, or even spinach, broccoli, or any other "real" veggies that your fish would enjoy.

How compatible are they with other fish?
They should be kept in Mbuna-type set-up but avoid adding similar looking males.

Can they be bred in captivity?
The Red Top Ice Blue Zebra Cichlids are maternal mouthbrooders like many of the African Cichlids. The male will entice a mate and as the female lays her eggs he will fertilise them. The process continues till all the eggs are fertilized and the female holds them in her mouth for 3-4 weeks during which time she does not eat.
